The Snow brought a sleepless night for the team last night with 7 incidents. 4 were to assist the Ambulance service in and around Glossop and 3 were searches on Bleaklow. The first was to Locate a gentlemen with his two boys who became lost in a white out not far from the Snake Summit. Whilst wrapping up this incident the team helped extract stuck cars and some lost scouts.
Then at 8pm the team was called to search for a man in his 70's who had luckily been found by two Fell runners training for the up coming High Peak Marathon. Initial information of the condition and location of the 3 was confusing so the team dispatched from Snake Summit assisted by Woodhead and Derby Teams from the Blacks area and Edale from the Upper Derwent. Fast Parties of SARDA Dogs were sent ahead of the main stretcher parties to confirm the location of the trio. The Party were quickly located by Glossop's Search Dog Toby and Handler in the Bleaklow Stones Area uninjured but Hypothermic.
The Evacuation route was decided as down Far Black Clough to the awaiting Glossop, Derby and Woodhead Vehicles. On the Decent on of the supporting Rescuers slipped in deep snow and injured their leg requiring a second stretcher carry down to the Blacks. The elderly Gentleman was met by an awaiting Ambulance on the Woodhead Road. All the Team Members were finally off the hill and stood down by 06:20.
It didn't take long before we were out again the team was called to assist the Ambulance Service to move an elderly lady with Pneumonia into an ambulance at 07:45amRecycle for charity
