Rescue teams throughout the area provided support with their 4WD vehicles, and Glossop MRT were soon involved in their busiest period of activity in the team\\\'s history. This first incident was the transfer to hospital of an elderly patient suffering from chest pains.

20/10/2009KindernoneTwo walkers en route from Edale to Hayfield became lost on Kinder and called for help by mobile phone. After a search involving 90 members from Glossop, Kinder, Edale and Buxton teams, they were located uninjured by an Edale unit at Crookstone Knoll and walked off.
03/10/2009Foulstone Delflower legImmediately after concluding the previous rescue, the combined Glossop/Woodhead party was re-tasked to Foulstone Delf to assist Edale MRT who were carrying off a female casualty who had suffered a lower leg fracture at Back Tor. After a stretcher carry down to the roadside near Strines Bridge, the casualty was transferred to a land ambulance. Several team members were dispatched to the Derwent valley to check on the air ambulance which had been forced to land due the high winds.
03/10/2009Cut Gatelower legA male runner fell whilst taking part in the ‘Grin ‘n bear it’ event, injuring his left leg. In gale force winds, Glossop members met up with Woodhead team who had initiated a carry-off. High wind and heavy rain made the evacuation difficult. The injured man was transferred to the Glossop team vehicle on Thickwoods Lane.
27/09/2009Mount Faminewrist injuryA mountain biker fell off her bike near Mt Famine, receiving a suspected fracture to her right wrist. Luckily she was found by Kinder and Glossop teams who were conducting a joint exercise in the area . After treatment,she was evacuated by team vehicle to a land ambulance.
13/09/2009WoodheadfatalGlossop MRT was one of several local teams and search dogs who were called out to locate an elderly man who was missing in the Torside area. Sadly he was found dead in the Woodhead reservoir by a Glossop search party and his body evacuated to a nearby vehicle.

The missing man was found dead by Woodhead team soon after the start of the operation.

26/04/2009Over Wood Moss, Alportankle fracture/dislocationAt 13:25, in a joint operation with Edale MRT, the team the team was paged to assist a teenage girl who had fractured her ankle at Over Wood Moss, near the Alport valley. She was evacuated by stretcher to an ambulance on the A57 Snake Pass.
18/04/2009Blackley Hey, KinderbruisingAt 12:27 Glossop and Edale teams were called out to a mountain biker who had suffered suspected pelvic and spinal injuries after coming off her bike at Blackley Hey, Kinder Scout. Assistance was rendered at the site by both teams and an ambulance crew, before the casualty was carried by stretcher to the nearby air ambulance.

18/11/2008Manor Park, Glossopsuspected neck injuryGlossop team received a request from the ambulance service to assist in the evacuation of a teenage girl who had fallen from a rope swing in a local park, sustaining a suspected neck injury. The team stretcher and vacuum mattress were used for the short carry to the ambulance.
17/11/2008KinderhypothermiaGlossop MRT joined Kinder, Edale and Buxton teams searching the Kinder Scout plateau for a lost walker suffering from hypothermia. Thick mist meant that an RAF helicopter was unable to reach the casualty, who was located and walked off by Kinder MRT.
12/10/2008Swallows WoodunknownAt 16:00 GMRT were called to assist the North West Air Ambulance with a lady who had sustained injuries when she slipped in the nature reserve at Swallows Wood. With the assistance of land ambulance crews the casualty was carried a short distance to the air craft as GMRT were en route.

A short stretcher carry by the combined team brought the casualty to an M.R. 4WD followed by a short drive to an NHS ambulance waiting at Fairholmes visitor centre.
25/09/2008Mill Hillnone5 air cadets on a Duke of Edinburgh award expedition became lost on a walk from Woodhead. After darkness had fallen, a mobile phone call established their location as in the Mill Hill area. Kinder MRT were soon at their location, followed by Glossop personnel. The uninjured, but cold cadets were walked off by KMRT towards the Grouse Inn.

Responding to a mobile phone call for help, the man was treated by ambulance paramedics and evacuated by stretcher. 20 team members took part in this rescue which lasted 3 hours.

A small party of Glossop MRT members located the pair at Bleaklow Head and walked them off to Snake Summit as darkness fell. The walkers were uninjured, apart from slight hypothermia.

Glossop team were assisted by Derby MRT (who were on exercise nearby) in getting the uninjured man to the top of the crag. He was then able to walk off with members of both teams.

Due to the difficult location, an air ambulance from East Midlands was requested. A steep carry up to the waiting helicopter was undertaken by 13 Glossop rescuer, plus a passing Woodhead team member who offered his services. Edale team members, called as backup were turned round at the roadside as the casualty was airlifted to hospital.

05/06/2007LonddendalefatalThe north west air ambulance had been called to assist a mountain biker who had collapsed on the Longdendale trail near Padfield. Despite resuscitation attempts, the man was declared dead at the scene and Glossop MRT members were used to carry the body to the team vehicle.
31/05/2007BroadbottomAt 18.58 the team were alerted to assist a crag-fast youth from Hattersley who was stuck on rocks at Broadbottom. The fire service requested M.R. assistance as they were unable to reach him, but by the team arrived they had rescued him by ladder, with no team action required.
30/04/2007Broadbottombroken toesThe team assisted ambulance paramedics with the evacuation of a cyclist from the river Etherow following a road accident. Medical assistance was given prior to an evacuation across the river to a waiting ambulance.

04/11/2006Hagg FarmDislocated ShoulderGMRT were called to Hagg Farm Centre at 11.01 am to assist with the evacuation of a mountain biker who had fallen and dislocated his right shoulder on the track below Lockerbrook. Ambulance paramedics had given pain relief prior to the team's arrival.The team's vacuum mattress was used to load the casualty onto the stretcher for a short evacuation to the waiting ambulance.
21/09/2006Bleaklow Ankle injuryGMRT members out for a fell run met a party who reported a missing walker. GMRT and KMRT searched Bleaklow. GMRT found the man who had an ankle injury and an existing heart condition but did not have his usual medication with him. An RAF Sea King airlifted him to Huddersfield hospital for treatment.

The casualty was found on the Crowden Little Brook track by Dog Simon of Calder Valley MRT and was evacuated with the help of the Glossop team vehicle. Oldham, Kinder and Woodhead teams were all involved in this operation
10/09/2006BroadbottomMedical ConditionGMRT were called at 11.42 to assist in the carrying of a 33 year old man with a medical condition to an NHS ambulance that was unable to access a rough track. A message was soon sent out indicating that no more members were needed and the team were stood down at 12.25.
20/08/2006UnknownUnknownGMRT received a call out but within a few minutes and whilst further information was being sought, the casualty/party was found safe and well. The team was stood down before reaching the Fire Station.
15/08/2006WoodheadUnknownAt 15.57 the team were paged for a known location incident to assist a man who had suffered a minor injury after jumping down from a wall at Woodhead. The team were stood down before they deployed.
18/07/2006Bottom of Fairbrook, Kinder Northern edgeReported Chest painsYoung Female on outward bound activity reported having chest pains with a previous history of heart problems. GMRT arrived on scene very soon after being called and treated the casualty. She was evacuated by stretcher to a waiting ambulance and assessed further in hospital.
11/07/2006Laddow Rocks, CrowdenMental Issues, Hypothermia, Suspected attempted suicideGMRT was called to rescue a man from the Laddow rocks area who had been out over night and was hypothermic. The man was located and found to be distressed, OMRT and KMRT helped GMRT stretcher the man to a waiting ambulance in the Chew Valley and he was admitted to Tameside Hospital.
