(Tuesday 20 March 2012)
At the end of 2011, Glossop MRT were fortunate enough to win one of Patterdale MRT's Land Rovers as a result of Patterdale winning the Land Rover donated by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Pete Stewart, Chairman of Glossop MRT takes up the story: "It seemed only fair to pass on the good fortune to another team so we contacted all teams in MREW and we were approached by three that were in need of a second-hand Land Rover. We had a draw and South Snowdonia SRT won our old vehicle. They're due to pick it up as soon as Patterdale’s has been re-signed in Glossop's name."
Daffydd Griffiths South Snowdonia team leader said "We are very grateful to Glossop Mountain Rescue Team for their kind donation of Smokey Joe, their faithful old Landrover to our team here in South Snowdonia. The area our team covers is large, and having a dedicated team vehicle with the renowned off road abilities of the Land Rover will be of significant benefit to our team, enabling essential equipment and team members to be transported to places inaccessible to most vehicles. Thanks once again to the Glossop team, and whilst we hope we don't get called out too often, we know we can reach members of the public in danger quickly and efficiently when ever we are called on."Recycle for charity
